How to edit a video and add timed text overlays

Use the ClipsConvert Video Editor to preview a source clip, scrub the timeline, set a trim range, and add up to eight timed text overlays. Each title supports editable text, start/end time, size, color and vertical position. Title overlays are rendered into MP4 by the server-side FFmpeg worker. Other supported single-source operations include crop, resize, rotation, color/audio adjustment, subtitles and metadata.

How to use this tool

  1. Upload a supported video and wait for inspection. Use the preview and timeline to locate the moment you want to edit.
  2. Choose Add text to create a title or caption. Set its content, start/end times, font size, color and position. Add more layers if needed, then preview the selected title over the video.
  3. Choose Export edited video. The server queues the render, burns the timed text layers into an MP4 and provides a download when output validation completes.

Tips for better results

  • Keep the original file until you have played the exported result and confirmed title timing and appearance.
  • Text is rendered into the exported picture, so it cannot be moved or edited independently after export. Keep each title inside the video duration.
  • Long or high-resolution videos use more server CPU and disk. Test with a short sample if you are unsure about the settings.

Can I add multiple video tracks, animated titles and transitions?

Yes. The editor supports up to eight timed text layers with editable content, start/end times, size, color and vertical position. Separate music tracks, drag-and-drop multitrack video arrangement, transitions and animated/keyframed effects are not included in this phase.

Can I edit the video and export it to another format?

Yes. Choose an editing action and then select a compatible output format and encoding settings. Some operations restrict which settings are meaningful or available.

Will I lose quality when editing?

It depends on the operation and export settings. Stream copy can preserve compatible streams without re-encoding, while filters and some format changes re-encode the media and can affect quality.

Can I use the editor on a phone?

The page is responsive, but large video uploads and server processing are generally easier on a stable connection. Keep the browser open while uploading and check the job status until it completes.
